Aleph

Aleph is an open-source data search, entity extraction, and cross-referencing platform developed by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). It allows investigative reporters, civic watchdogs, and researchers to ingest millions of documents — PDFs, emails, corporate registries, sanction lists, and spreadsheets — and search across them with multilingual full-text indexing and optical character recognition (OCR).

Aleph extracts structured entities (people, companies, bank accounts) into the FollowTheMoney data model, automatically flagging overlaps between leaked records, public asset disclosures, and international sanction databases. Non-profits and newsrooms can self-host Aleph securely to collaborate privately on sensitive investigation archives.
