Centre for Policy Research

The Centre for Policy Research (CPR) is a non-partisan public policy research institution established in 1973 in New Delhi. CPR conducts multidisciplinary scholarship on the major challenges confronting 21st-century India, focusing on environmental law and climate change, urbanisation, state capacity, education, economic policy, and international affairs.

CPR’s research initiatives include the Initiative on Climate, Energy and Environment (ICEE), the Accountability Initiative (which analyzes public expenditure and social sector program implementation through the PAISA project), and the Urbanisation Initiative (investigating informal settlements and urban land tenure).
