CHRI works to strengthen democratic accountability, human rights compliance, and transparency institutions across Commonwealth countries.
In India, CHRI conducts empirical monitoring of police oversight bodies, tracks conditions and undertrial populations in state prisons, produces procedural legal guides for legal aid lawyers, and monitors the implementation and weakening of Right to Information (RTI) regimes.
