DSpace is the most widely deployed open-source digital repository software in the world. It powers the institutional repositories of thousands of universities, research centres, and government organisations — including many Indian institutions (IISc, IITs, ISI, ICSSR). For Indian researchers, DSpace is the infrastructure behind open access to Indian scholarly output: theses, dissertations, journal articles, reports, datasets, and archival materials that would otherwise be inaccessible. It supports multiple metadata schemas, persistent identifiers (DOI, Handle), and interoperability protocols (OAI-PMH). Free, open-source, with a large global community. DSpace 7+ includes a modern Angular-based user interface.
