Economic Survey of India

The Economic Survey is the Government of India’s flagship annual macro review and the first serious read of the next year’s Union Budget context. It presents current fiscal and monetary conditions, sectoral performance, social programmes, agriculture, manufacturing, labour and inflation trends, plus medium-term structural analysis. For civic organisations it is often the cleanest place to identify policy signals before official budget and department papers are released. For researchers, the survey is useful for its consistent narrative framing of major reforms, state-level fiscal and growth trends, and long-run baseline estimates that can be paired with time-series from RBI or national ministries.
