HydroGNSS

HydroGNSS is an ESA Scout mission using reflected GPS and Galileo signals to observe the water cycle and other climate variables through clouds and rain. Its two small satellites produce global measurements of soil moisture, permafrost freeze-thaw state, surface inundation, wetland extent and above-ground forest biomass, with ocean wind speed and sea ice as secondary products. Level 1 and 2 data are supplied as six-hour NetCDF files through a download portal. Access requires institutional registration and acceptance of ESA terms, including limits on sharing data outside the registered organisation.
