India Constituency Maps

This repository, maintained by data scientist S.K. (skthewimp), provides shapefiles for India’s pre-delimitation (pre-2008) assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies. Constituency boundary shapefiles are one of the most frequently requested but hardest-to-find GIS layers for India — the Election Commission publishes maps but not always in standard GIS formats. This repo fills that gap by providing cleaned, standardised GeoJSON and shapefiles in WGS84 projection, ready for use in QGIS, R, Python, and web mapping. For researchers working on Indian elections, political geography, or redistricting analysis, this repository is an essential starting point. The data covers the boundaries used in elections up to 2004 (Lok Sabha) and the corresponding state assembly elections.
