Digital Library of India

The Digital Library of India (DLI) is one of the largest digitised collections of Indian books in the world. Originally a partnership between IISc Bangalore, CDAC Noida, IIIT Hyderabad, and Carnegie Mellon University’s Million Book Project, the collection was later mirrored to the Internet Archive where it now lives as a permanent public resource. It contains millions of volumes in English and major Indian languages including Hindi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Urdu, and Punjabi. The collection spans literature, philosophy, religion, science, history, law, and government publications — many of which are out of print or otherwise inaccessible. All content is freely downloadable in multiple formats. For Indian researchers, DLI is an irreplaceable resource for accessing historical texts and pre-copyright works that are not available through any other digital platform.
