povertyactionlab.orgJ-PAL South Asia, hosted at the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) in New Delhi, is the regional office of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (founded at MIT by Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo, and Sendhil Mullainathan).
The centre partners with state governments, central ministries, and non-profits across India to design and implement randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing public policy interventions. Its research covers direct benefit transfers, air pollution emissions markets, primary school learning methods, and community health worker incentives.
