KoboToolbox

KoboToolbox is the most widely used open-source data collection platform in the humanitarian and development sectors. Developed by the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, it lets organisations build complex survey forms, collect data offline on mobile devices, and manage submissions through a clean web interface. For Indian civil society, Kobo has become the de facto standard for household surveys, needs assessments, monitoring and evaluation, and field research — largely because it is free, works without internet connectivity, and handles multiple languages (including most Indian languages). The platform is used by thousands of Indian NGOs, research organisations, and government agencies. Data can be exported in multiple formats and connected to analysis tools.
