microdata.gov.inThe Periodic Labour Force Survey is the main recurring official source for employment, unemployment and labour-force participation in India. Its person- and household-level files support analysis by sex, age, education, industry, occupation, employment status, earnings and rural or urban location; published reports provide the standard headline indicators.
The survey design was revamped from January 2025 to produce more frequent all-India and state-level estimates. Results from the redesigned series should therefore not be joined mechanically to older rounds: check the reference period, status measure and MoSPI comparability notes before making a trend.
