Alaveteli

Alaveteli is an open-source software platform developed by mySociety to help citizens, journalists, and advocacy groups make and track Freedom of Information (FOI) and Right to Information (RTI) requests to public authorities.

The platform makes the entire request lifecycle public: questions, institutional replies, attached documents, and appeals are automatically indexed and published online as a searchable public archive. Alaveteli powers major national transparency sites worldwide (such as WhatDoTheyKnow in the UK) and includes built-in workflows for response deadline tracking, public authority directory management, and redaction.
