OpenSanctions

OpenSanctions is an international, open-source database of persons and entities of public interest. It continuously aggregates, cleans, and deduplicates official data from dozens of governments and multilateral bodies, including international sanctions lists, Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), debarred public contractors, and high-level judicial targets.

For civic technologists, journalists, and non-profit compliance researchers, OpenSanctions provides a free, open-access alternative to expensive commercial risk-intelligence databases (like World-Check). Data is structured in the FollowTheMoney schema and made accessible via bulk CSV/JSON downloads, a command-line matching tool (Zavod), and a documented REST API.
