Our World in Data

Our World in Data (OWID), based at the University of Oxford, is one of the most important public data resources of the modern era. It takes complex global datasets — from the UN, World Bank, WHO, and academic research — and presents them as clear, interactive charts with thorough methodological notes. For India, OWID provides pre-processed, ready-to-use data on nearly every development topic: poverty, health, education, energy, environment, and demographics. What makes OWID special is that every chart links to the underlying data (downloadable as CSV) and the original source, making it both a discovery tool and a reliable citation chain. The entire platform is open-source and all data is CC BY licensed.
