For India, it covers the ~250,000 refugees and asylum-seekers registered with UNHCR India (primarily from Myanmar, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka), as well as Indians seeking asylum abroad. The data includes demographics (age, sex), location, and legal status. The API provides programmatic access to the full dataset. An essential complement to India’s Census migration data, which only captures internal and voluntary international migration — not forced displacement.
