OpenHistoricalMap
Open, crowd-sourced historical world map documenting geographic and political boundaries across centuries using OpenStreetMap infrastructure
openhistoricalmap.orgOpenHistoricalMap (OHM) is a collaborative, open-source project that uses OpenStreetMap technology to map the world throughout history. Unlike modern base maps, OHM adds a temporal dimension to every geographic feature, allowing users to move through time and visualise borders, rail lines, settlements, and territorial changes from antiquity to the present.
The project is freely editable and maintained by a global community of cartographers, historians, and geographers. All vector map data is dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0, and can be queried, filtered by year, and embedded in historical research and digital humanities projects.
